Human in the Loop
Start with your LLM. Stay the quality layer. The model does the heavy lifting — the first draft, the analysis, the boring 80%. You do the judging: catching what's wrong, adding what only you know, and deciding what's good enough to ship.
Two ways people get AI wrong
Not trusting it enough — writing everything from scratch, then asking AI to "polish" at the end. That's using a jet engine as a paperweight. Trusting it too much — copy the output, send it, no read-through, no fact-check. Then a confident-sounding mistake burns you and you swear off AI. The right answer is in the middle: human in the loop. The AI is in the loop doing the work. You are in the loop making sure it's right. Neither works alone.
The core move: LLM first, human as the quality layer
Flip the default order. Old way: you think hard → produce a draft → maybe AI tidies it. New way: AI produces a draft → you think hard about the draft → you shape it into the final. Reacting to something is faster and sharper than creating from nothing. Your job as the quality layer is three things the model can't do for you:
- Catch what's wrong. Facts, numbers, names, logic, tone. The model is confident whether it's right or not — you supply the skepticism.
- Add what only you know. The client's history, the real deadline, the office politics, the thing that happened last week.
- Decide what's good enough. Only you know the stakes.
